Dr. Sowby joined ICRP in 1956 as a member of Committee 5. Dr. Sowby has the distinction of being the first full time Scientific Secretary of ICRP, assuming the position in 1962 and retaining it for an incredible 24 years. David Sowby transformed ICRP by developing stronger bonds with other international organizations and by expanding the funding base of ICRP.
